Am Hallman

Two PA candidates

1st tier

  • Abraham Hallman

1818 Upper Providence, Montgomery Co., PA, carpenter

1819 and 1820 Lower Salford, Montgomery Co., PA, carpenter

Both of the known planes reported in GAWP5 were found in Montgomery Co.

wife Sarah

2nd tier

  • Geo. Adam Hallman

(George Adam Hallman is included as a possible candidate as period documents reference the same individual as George Adam Hallman, G Adam Hallman and Adam Hallman. Note that he signed his name as George A Hallman in 1833.) However, note the 1828 bill where Adam Hawman (Holman) owed John Gray $1.50 for John's making a fore plain and a jack plain. This could indicate that Adam did not make his planes ... which is why he was given a 2nd tier standing. (See front and back of the document for various spellings of his surname.)

Note that Washington Co. is at the far western end of PA .... a significant distance from Montgomery Co. which is at the far eastern end of PA.

(The presentation of visually based elements (scale imprints, scale drawings, etc.) is a challenge, especially when moving from the printed page to the realm of an electronic medium. For reference, the original GAWP 5, CAWP, BARS and SOJ publications had pages which were 8-1/2" in width.)
