2nd tier candidates

  • Nathaniel Martin b 1759 - d 1847 Hampton, CT

Probate with extensive carpenter tools (69 planes) in the inventory

Nathaniel is probably too early for the known plane, but Hampton is only about 40 miles from Providence, RI,                  making him the strongest 2nd tier candidate.

  • Nathaniel Martin b 1788 Hampton, CT - will 1848 Brooklin, CT

detailed list of carpenter tools including planes

Nathaniel is too late for the known plane's details.

  • Nathaniel Martin b ca 1771 to 1775

Portsmouth, NH, joiner in 1819. Nathaniel's location in Portsmouth is not close to the SE MA - RI area which fits            the details of the known planes.

(The presentation of visually based elements (scale imprints, scale drawings, etc.) is a challenge, especially when moving from the printed page to the realm of an electronic medium. For reference, the original GAWP 5, CAWP, BARS and SOJ publications had pages which were 8-1/2" in width.)
