Possible candidates:

  • Moses Hoyt, Plymouth, MA

      1801 and 1809 deeds, housewright

Moses's dates best fit the plane, but the wedge has similarities to John Sleeper's wedges. (Shown below)

  • Moses Hoyt, Amesbury, MA, 1850 census, carpenter, born 1795 (While Amesbury is close to John Sleeper in Newburyport, this Moses seems to be too late for the plane.)

Others:

  • Moses Hoyt the 4th, Amesbury, MA, 1822 and 1829 deeds, housewright (probably too late)

  • Moses Hoyt, Amesbury, MA, 1824 deed, housewright (probably too late)

  • Various Moses Hoyt's in Amesbury, MA from 1765 to 1840 based on probate records (with and without trade links)

1764 Moses as a probate signator, Newburyport, mast maker (trade question, plus too early for the plane)

1765 Moses probate, shipwright with 0:16:0 worth of carpenter tools (too early for the plane)

1805 Moses inventory, no tools, gent

1831 Moses will, 1831, wife Hannah, no tools mentioned

1840 Moses probate, yeoman, no tools

(The presentation of visually based elements (scale imprints, scale drawings, etc.) is a challenge, especially when moving from the printed page to the realm of an electronic medium. For reference, the original GAWP 5, CAWP, BARS and SOJ publications had pages which were 8-1/2" in width.)
